Mithali Raj equals the record of most 50 plus scores in Women's World Cup

    Mithali Raj, captain of the Indian Women's Cricket team created history in the ongoing ICC Women's Cricket World Cup. On Saturday India plays their fifth match against Australia in Auckland. India lost the toss and elected to bat first. Mithali Raj and Bhatia took the helm of the match despite quick wickets (28 runs for 2 wickets) in the beginning. Both scores their half-century, Mithali Raj scores 68 (96 balls) and Yastika Bhatia scores  59 (83 balls). After their dismissal, Harmanpreet Kaur and Pooja Vastrakar led the team to 277 runs with their brilliant batting.

39 years old Mithali Raj scored her 12th half-century in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup. This is the 63rd half-century of her ODI carrier life. At the same time, Mithali equaled the former New Zealand player Debbie Hockley's record of scoring fifty or more runs in an innings at the Women's world cup. These two players now have a record of scoring more than fifty-plus runs in an innings twelve times.

Indian skipper's brilliant knock of 68 runs off 96 deliveries comes at a crucial time when India needs a partnership after scoring 28 for 2. Yastika Bhatia and Harmanpreet Kaur contributed 59 and 57 respectively to take India's total 277/7 in 50 overs against Australia.

However, Indis's bowlers are not in touch in this game. A very tough day for the Women in Blue. The Aussies opener Alyssa Healy and Rachael Haynes put up 121 runs together within the first 20 overs of the innings letting them out of the match. A brilliant batting shows Aussies skipper Meg Lanning, scored 97 (107 balls), and missed a well-deserved century. Australian women, the Mighty Australian, have done it yet again! they are making of the habit of winning! The domination in this world cup continues, and with this win, they become the first team to qualify for the semi-finals.
